Malaysian Digital Asset Exchange Reaches Out to Busan

12 RWA Listings - Trading
Proposed simultaneous listing on BDX
Embracing 1.9 billion Muslim 'potential customers'

Malaysian digital asset exchange GreenX has reached out to the Busan Digital Asset Exchange (BDX), which plans to launch later this year. Through BDX, GreenX plans to introduce various real-world assets (RWAs) to domestic investors.

According to BDX on Wednesday, GreenX CEO Philip Tam, who attended the Busan International Financial Forum last month, proposed the simultaneous listing of RWA-based projects on BDX. The idea is that through collaboration with GreenX, BDX will be able to secure a wide range of RWA assets and grow into a globally competitive exchange.

GreenX is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed GreenPro Capital. In addition to having a strong financial and internal control structure, the company says it is the only real asset exchange to have been granted a digital asset and token security (ST) exchange licence and 'Shariah' certification by the Malaysian government in April 2022.

Shariah certification is provided to companies that comply with Islamic law. GreenX said its Shariah certification gives it access to a potential customer base of more than 1.9 billion Muslims across Southeast Asia, the Islamic world, and Greater China.

GreenX lists and trades 12 government-certified RWAs. These include traditional safe-haven assets such as real estate, gold, silver, and iron ore, as well as tokenised artworks such as Picasso and Banksy. Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), and Ripple (XRP) are also listed as trading instruments.

"GreenX is a top-notch RWA exchange with the largest number of projects listed and traded in the world," said Philip, "and in the future, Korean investors will be able to easily access and trade valuable RWAs listed on GreenX through BDX."

Mr Philip is an accountant by profession and a financial expert with 30 years of experience at global accounting firm PWC and Hong Kong-based international bank HSBC.
