Brighsun received Guinness World Record in 2015 for greatest distance by electric bus on a single charge (non-solar) covering 1,018 km in Melbourne Australia. Brighsun has developed proprietary Lithium-sulphur battery and moved into solid-state Sodium ion battery and development of it’s own electric vehicle (EV). The later has significant advantages over Lithium-ion battery in terms of cost, flammability, unstable reactants, longevity and strength. In 2023 Brighsun achieved production ready 18650 cells that will give superior safety and single-charge range of 800-1000 km range in its forthcoming EV.
